How to Play

Bidding

Each player is dealt 13 cards. Bid how many tricks you think you can take.

Play with your partner as a team to ensure you meet your joint tricks bid. If your partner bids 6 and you bid 2, then if your partner only takes 5 tricks you will need to take at least 3 or else you will lose points.

Scoring

Each trick that you bid which you capture is worth 10 points.

If you fail to cover your bid you lose the associated point total. For example, if you bid 3 and your partner bids 5 but you only take a combined 6 tricks you would lose 80 points.

If you exceed your bid goal you take bags. Your first 9 bags add 1 point each, but whenever you take 10 bags combined you lose 100 points from your score.

Games are played to 500.

Going Nil

If you bid zero you are not saying that you do not think you will take any tricks, but are instead affirmatively claiming you will not take any. Score 100 points if you call nil and take no tricks, but if you take any you lose 100 points.

Suit & Trump

Whoever has the highest card on the trick wins the hand. Players must follow suit if they can.

Spades Are Trump

The Spades suit trumps all other suits. Players can not lead a trump until a trump has been laid on another trick. After Spades have been broken you can play them on any hand so long as you did not have the suit led by a prior player.
