Starting Your Game

Click to choose the difficulty level you want to play: Easy, Medium or Hard. After choosing your desired difficulty level you can choose to play a 6x6 or 8x8 puzzle.

Alternatively you can choose to play a printable version of today's puzzle by clicking on the PRINT button.

The help button explains how StoStone puzzles work.

In the lower right corner of the welcome screen there are buttons to erase gameplay data, share the game on social media, read developer info, or install the game on your device as a web app.

The game has a button for more games at the bottom and a language selector which is in the upper left corner.

How to Play

A square grid is divided into regions. The goal is to blacken some cells of the grid (stones) according to the following rules:

• The areas enclosed with bold lines are called Rooms.
• The number inside of a Room shows the number of continuous black cells in that Room.
  • All colored in cells must be adjacent to another colored celll in that room.
  • They must directly touch each other horizontally or vertically - diagonally does not satisfy the criteria.
• Rooms with no number may have any number of black cells
  • The must contain at least one.
• Black cells can not connect across bold lines (across Rooms) vertically or horizontally, though may do so diagonally.
• When all stones are "dropped" straight down (as in Tetris) the stones must fill the bottom half of the grid without empty cells.
  • If you play a 6x6 grid each column must have 3 stones in it.
  • If you play an 8x8 grid each column must have 4 stones in it.

Entering Your Data

• Click on a cell once to turn it into a black stone.
• Click on a cell again to turn it into a red X.
• Click on a cell again to turn it back to white.
• You do not need to red X all the locations where stones do not exist to win, but you must correctly identify all stone positions.

When you beat a puzzle a blue winner stamp appears above the puzzle with the amount of time it took you to beat the puzzle. Click on the Next button then click on the date to play another puzzle.

Tip: start with Rooms where all cells are black or smaller Rooms and then use those to help determine how surrounding Rooms are colored in.

Game Features

Each day this game offers another level to play through. You can play 6 different puzzles from any particular day by playing the different puzzle difficulty levels and sizes. Simply refresh this page in your web browser and choose a different puzzle size or difficulty level.

Alternatively you can click on date to choose another date and play another puzzle of the same dimension and difficulty level as the one you just beat.

Your web browser automatically stores the amount of time and number of moves it took you to complete each puzzle.

The lower left side of the game offers buttons to undo moves, restart level, pause the game, adjust game music and sounds, or switch between full screen or embedded play modes.
